The first ideas regarding the development of “rafting” sport in Albania blossomed since 1985, when Zamo Spathara, today the President of the Albanian Rafting Federation, went to Hambull a village in Berat, located on the edge of the Osumi River. A little adventure took off at once, by means of spare wheels taken by vehicles, which for the first time crossed The Osumi Canyons, a fairytale place of virgin nature and marvelous beauty. In 1991 Zamo Spathara went in exile to Italy where he continued his profound passion for Rafting Sport by participating in an International Rafting Training Center, which turned out to be the principal supporters of the Albanian Rafting Group. They provided the first main equipment such as: (white water rafts, paddles, neoprene suits, life jackets, helmets).

Finally a big dream came true! It was exactly that little adventure which created the group of Rafting in Albania: “Albanian Rafting Group”.
It was just this little adventure started from the dream of one man, followed by tireless actions to hundreds of young people full of faith who made possible the introduction of Next Albania, a place to be explored, in the middle of Europe.
